Koon Seng Road

The iconic line of shophouses along this picturesque street paints a vibrant streak amidst a backdrop of modern terrace houses and industrial hardware stores. Its gentle hues bear some resemblance to Wes Anderson's oeuvre, but oriental flourishings on the cool tiles are a stern reminder of the Chinese heritage that root these buildings within the repertoire of local architecture.

The Intan

Strictly by reservation only, visitors to The Intan are let in on owner Alvin Yapp’s personal take on Peranakan culture. Tingkats (tiffin carriers traditionally used to pack homemade meals) and beaded slippers are but a small selection of the memorabilia on display. Should your schedule permit, sit down to an hour-long tea experience, complete with kueh lovingly prepared by Alvin’s parents.
